Well the Winter has moved from a disastrous drought to a miracle wet Spring and as a consequence we up here in Dogpatch are breathing a sigh of relief. Rivers and tribs are happily flowing. The Upper Sac is seasonably high but dropping and is fine fishing shape although you need to think high water fishing .... this means edges and transition water. I am seeing hatches of Salmonflies, March Browns, a few Drakes and small Caddis. I was out on the river having some ME time the last 2 days and saw a few fish coming to the surface. My recommendation right now is nymphing. I had success with a variety of bugs including Jimmy Legs, P.T.'s, Caddis Poopahs, Gordon Prince and Soft Hackles. It is raining right now but by next weekend it should settle down. This river is and will be prime for you early birds, start making plans.

A recent trip to the McCloud River and Ash Camp was a suprise. The river looks very fishable and I anticipate this carrying over to the opener on the 28th. I hope to make a recon trip down to Ah Di Nah before then so look for word on the road and conditions there.

BTW Wild Waters Fly Fishing just received the Orvis 2018 Outfitter of the year award. Check us out ..... www.wildwatersflyfishing.com

Cheers
