McCloud and Upper Sacramento Rivers Heating Up
Great start to the trout season so far here in Dogpatch. Both of our fabled rivers are fishing good and well worth a trip. Waters conditions are excellent to perfect. Currently nymphers will get most of the fish. The hatches are beginning thus the gulpers and sippers will start showing their heads very soon .... if not NOW. Both rivers are seeing Salmonflies still with a few early Golden Stones out and about with many more to come over the next month. Caddis, Mayflies and Yellow Sallies are becoming more prominent as each day passes. Don't get too scientific here you dry fly officiants, think old school .... size, shape and color. With the water temps rising we are seeing a mix of the big and little fish which is common, those little ones have got to grow up like their big brothers and sisters. Expect to see the McCloud crowds on the weekends, Ah Di Nah has been filling up along with Ash Camp but that's why we call it the McCrowd this time of year. The Upper Sac isn't seeing as much pressure but understandably, this river has 30 plus miles of access as opposed to the McClouds 6 miles. It's a bit early for them but I have been discovering that the LBS (Little Black Shit) flies are working very good as shown below. My recommendation, drop everything and get up here, Spring has sprung and I have some great Wild Waters Fly Fishing guides who can help you have a ball.
Cheers
